Create a Chic and Festive Thanksgiving Table

Hi friends! Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and this year, I want my Thanksgiving table to feel warm, welcoming, and naturally festive. To achieve this, I went with a mix of white and gold decor pieces, paired with woven accents that bring a cozy, harvest-inspired look right to the table. And the best part? Every piece I used was available on Amazon, so getting everything together before Thanksgiving was a breeze thanks to their fast shipping.

Set the Scene with Natural Textures, Pumpkins, and Fall Greenery!

To kick off the look, I chose a bright and natural green eucalyptus garland. Secondly, I sprinkled in the various pumpkins and pinecones! These pumpkins add a charming, harvest touch without overwhelming the table, so be sure not to use any too large. The combination of clean white and subtle gold really pops, especially on our light oak colored table!

Lastly, one of my favorite finds was the woven placemats! It gives the whole table this soft, rustic feel that’s absolutely ideal for fall. The result? A balanced, natural foundation that brings out the best of the colors and textures.

Thanksgiving Table Flatware & Dinnerware

To make the whole setup feel complete, I sprinkled in a few additional touches. Linen cloth napkins add a crisp, clean look that ties the whole setting together. For the centerpiece, I kept things simple with a neutral-toned candles and brass candlestick holders, giving the table a soft glow without overpowering the other colors. Together, these details look oh-so-cute!

SHOP MY THANKSGIVING TABLE

Lastly, the best part about this whole setup, is all these finds are from Amazon! That means that you can pull off this look before the holiday with incredible ease and convenience. Simply shop below and click my favorite button: Add to Cart.

Here’s to creating a Thanksgiving table that’s as beautiful as it is memorable! Below, you can either shop the individual products, or simply click right below to shop the entire Thanksgiving Table List!

Fall Home Decor

Festive Fall Front Porch

Happy fall y’all! Who doesn’t love pumpkin spice season? This year I’ve really focused on making my front porch feel warm, inviting, and oh-so cute! It’s the perfect time to get creative with layering textures, playing with colors, and bringing in fall-inspired decor like faux trees, pumpkins, and more. Let’s chat about how I styled my fall front porch and how you can easily do the same!

I’ll also share shopping links for everything at the end, so you can recreate the look yourself. The best part, everything is from Amazon. This makes this porch look incredibly affordable!

Fall Front Porch

Mixing Fall Trees & Greenery

One of the first things I added to my porch this year was a combination of faux fall trees at different heights. I love how they add a ton of dimension and height variation. The color contrast between the maple trees and the white pre-lit trees turned out stunning. Remember to place taller trees on the outside and bushier fall mums close to the inside to frame the entrance!

The lights on the pre-lit trees give such a cozy glow in the evening. I accentuated this a bit by adding similar colored pre-lit leaf stems to go on either side of the walkway—perfect for fall nights!

All The Pumpkins

Pumpkins are a must-have for a fall front porch! I went all out this year and added faux pumpkins in a variety of sizes and textures. The larger pumpkins sit at the base of my trees, anchoring the whole setup, while smaller ones are scattered around for a more organic look. You can stack some of the smaller pumpkins for added height, or nestle them into corners to fill up empty spaces.

Check out how perfect the lit jack-o-lantern is for that day-to-night transition! I also found the cutest small lit pumpkins to place next to the big guy!

Use a Variety of Fall Colors

Next, when I think of fall, I automatically think of deep oranges, burnt reds, and golden yellows. But don’t be afraid to get a little creative! To soften this color combo, I added the white pre-lit trees and white pumpkins. These colors work well together, creating a balanced palette that doesn’t feel too loud but still captures all the cozy fall vibes.

Layer with Rugs and Doormats

Lastly, don’t forget about the base of the porch!  I love a good layered look when it comes to rugs and doormats. This year, I opted for a simple, neutral-colored doormat that’s perfect for wiping off muddy fall boots, and paired it with a slightly larger plaid layering rug underneath.

Fall Front Porch

Putting together a fall front porch is all about layering different elements—heights, colors, and textures. By mixing faux trees and pumpkins in varying sizes, playing with a range of fall colors, and layering your doormat with a rug, you can easily create a cozy, inviting space that makes your home feel ready for the season. Don’t forget to add some pre-lit elements for that extra fall glow in the evenings!

Our Sunny Family Vacay at Wild Dunes Resort

Hi friends! I just got back from such a fun family vacation, and I want to share all the deets with you. We stayed at the Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, and let me tell you, it was the perfect little spot for a family getaway. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a treat.

Welcome to Isle of Palms

First off, Isle of Palms is such a charming place. It’s a quick 35-minute drive from downtown Charleston, making it super convenient if you want to explore the city without staying in the hustle and bustle. But honestly, once we got to the resort, we didn’t feel the need to leave!

Staying at Wild Dunes Resort

The Wild Dunes Resort is incredibly family-friendly. There are tons of restaurants and shops on site, so we never had to worry about finding a place to eat or something to do. They even just opened a new ice cream shop, which was a huge hit with the kids (and us, let’s be real). The best part? Everything is within walking distance, making it easy to explore without having to drive everywhere.

Dining Favorites

We tried out several restaurants, but our absolute favorite was Islander 71. The crab cakes there are out of this world. Seriously, if you ever go, make sure to have a reservation because it can be pretty crowded. Another great spot we loved was Burton’s Grill & Bar. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was just perfect for a family dinner.

Speaking of food, we couldn’t get enough of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. It’s super close to the resort, and we made it a point to stop by for sweet treats almost every day. Their flavors are so unique and tasty; it’s a must-visit!

Beaches and Activities

One of the highlights of our trip was the beach. The beaches at Wild Dunes aren’t crowded at all, which is more than we can ask for! We enjoyed long walks collecting pretty shells, and the kids had a blast playing in the sand and water. Plus, they have bike rentals and lots of paths for biking and running. Our son rented a bike and absolutely loved exploring the area on two wheels.

And let’s not forget about the pools. There are lots of pools nearby, all within walking distance of the accommodations. It was so nice to have that option when we wanted to switch things up from the beach. The pools were clean, well-maintained, and never too crowded.

Final Thoughts

Overall, our stay at Wild Dunes Resort was nothing short of fantastic. It’s the perfect spot for a family vacation, with plenty to do for both kids and adults. From the great restaurants to the beautiful, uncrowded beaches and all the fun activities, we had an unforgettable time. If you’re looking for a family-friendly resort with lots to offer, I highly recommend checking out Wild Dunes.

Our Favorite Family-Friendly Resort Vacay!

Hi friends! My family and I just got back from the most incredible vacation at the Omni Amelia Island Resort in Florida, and I couldn’t wait to share this gem of a trip with you! If you’re looking for a family-friendly resort with something for everyone, this is the place to be.

Family-Friendly Resort

To start things off, we stayed in a spacious three-bedroom villa, perfect for our family. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax, and it felt just like home. The villa was clean, cozy, and had all the amenities we needed.

Resort Highlights

One of the highlights of our stay was the abundance of poolside activities for the kids. Starting at noon, the resort offered tons of fun things to do. The kids were never bored! They especially loved meeting Tanner the Turtle, who came out every day with sweet treats. It was such a delightful surprise and quickly became one of their favorite parts of the day.

For a bit of fun, we tried out the mini-golf course at the resort. Both us and the kids had a blast. It was a great way to spend some quality family time together.

The resort also boasts 3.5 miles of private beach. This meant we never had to worry about it being too crowded. We spent countless hours building sandcastles, swimming, and just soaking up the sun. Plus, the complimentary towels and bottles of water were a nice touch that made our beach days even better.

When it came to dining, we were spoiled for choice with ten onsite restaurants. Our absolute favorite was Falcon’s Nest. Their nachos were to die for! We also loved having brunch at Sunrise Cafe. The food was delicious, and the views were simply stunning. It was the perfect way to start our day.

Location

The resort’s location is top notch too. It was just a 20-minute drive to downtown Fernandina Beach. We ventured into town a few times and had some unforgettable meals. The Salty Pelican Bar and Grill quickly became one of our favorites. And we couldn’t get enough of the cookie butter ice cream at Fernandina’s Fantastic Fudge Shop. Trust me, you have to try it!

Family-Friendly Resort

Overall, our stay at Omni Amelia Island Resort was everything we hoped for and more. It was the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, with plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained and enough opportunities for us adults to unwind. Honestly, it was the best family-friendly resort we’ve stayed at! We can’t wait to go back and make even more memories.

Choosing Perfect Outfits for Family Photos

Hello friends! We all know this struggle: you corral your family together for a photo session, but then face the million-dollar question – “What do we wear?” I’ve been there, and after numerous trials (and a few errors), I have some tried-and-true tips for picking the perfect outfits for family photos.

1. Stick to a Neutral Palette… With a Twist!

Neutral colors are like the safety nets of the clothing world – they’re versatile, timeless, and look good on everyone. Think shades like beige, gray, white, and black. But here’s my favorite tip: add a splash of one accent color. Whether a pop of olive, burnt orange, or navy blue, this color will tie all your outfits together and add that “wow” factor to your photos. And don’t stress about it being everywhere; a scarf here, a tie there, or even shoes can bring in that accent beautifully.

2. Go Casual and Comfortable

Comfort is key for family photos, especially if you’ve got kiddos running around or a husband who isn’t thrilled about a full day of photos. So, for the gents? I say, stick with khakis or jeans. They’re easy, look great, and offer that casual vibe that relaxes the atmosphere.

3. Coordinate in Family Photos, Don’t Match

Remember those ’90s family photos where everyone wore the exact same white tee and denim jeans? While it was cute back then, now it’s all about coordination, not duplication. If mom’s wearing a floral dress with that lovely accent color, maybe dad can have a tie or shirt in the same hue. Let the styles flow, but don’t force it too much.

4. Accessorize Wisely

Accessories can be game changers. Hats, scarves, or a statement necklace can elevate your look. But remember, less is more. You don’t want that oversized hat overshadowing your beautiful smile, right?

Some of my favorite place to shop for family photos are Revolve, Madewell, and J.Crew. They all have beautiful looks that are elevated yet still casual.

Don’t forget to be yourselves and have fun! Choose outfits that reflect who you are. Stay true to your style, be comfortable, and let your love and connection shine through. So pull out those khakis, find your accent color, and get ready to rock that photo session!

Faux Stems and Greenery: Fall Edition

Faux Stems

Hello friends! As the air turns crisp and the leaves start their annual color change, I find myself eager to sprinkle a little of that fall magic indoors. Now, I’ve always been a fan of those stunning fall hues—think burnished golds, deep reds, and soft ochres. But let’s be real: maintaining fresh stems and wreaths throughout the season can be a tad high maintenance. And that’s where the game-changer steps in. Enter faux stems and wreaths!

Firstly, these beauties not only capture the essence of fall, but they’re also super easy to incorporate and maintain. Secondly, you can mix and match just about any of your favorite fall colors, just make sure to include those same colors in your pillows, throws, and fall decor. This allows for a uniform and aesthetic look throughout your entire home. AFloral and Pottery Barn have stunning options, as does Amazon! Below are a few of my favorite options!

And remember, for smaller vases, you can also find dried flowers and grasses to incorporate!

Our Kitchen Design: The Heart of the Home

The kitchen is the heart and soul of every home, so when designing ours, I knew it had to be special! Our kitchen design embraces the natural light and the large 12 x 22 ft space. I want to share all the details of our design and the thought process behind it!

The Island

The focal point of just about every kitchen design is the island! Our rift-sawn white oak island is 8’9″ x 4’3″ in measurement and is custom stained. Now, you might ask, what makes this oak special? It’s cut slightly differently than regular oak which gives it a clean, straight-lined grain with almost no flecks. Trust me, it’s a standout piece that really makes our kitchen pop!

Counter-tops and Backsplash

I can’t begin to describe how happy we are with the Calcatta Leon Quartz we chose for our countertop and backsplash. This quartz variant is unique and stunning with the perfect amount gray and taupe veining. Quartz is also non-porous so it requires minimal upkeep, which I love. It’s a great choice for busy kitchens because of how pretty and easy it is to maintain.

The Cabinets

Our maple cabinets are the perfect addition to our kitchen design. Maple is a hardwood so it can take a lot of wear and tear which is exactly what you need in a busy kitchen. Maple is also a great backdrop for paint as it’s a fine grain that looks clean and consistent. We chose Sherwin WIlliams Pure White, a pretty and neutral white that looks stunning in our sunny kitchen.

Sink and Hardware

Amongst the white cabinets, we have a farmhouse sink. It’s very deep and wide and sticks out slightly from the countertop. I think it provides that slight vintage vibe and it holds a ton of dishes! All of the hardware you see on the cabinets we purchased through Amazon!

Kitchen Design

Lighting

Kitchen pendants truly make a huge difference for your kitchen design. The kitchen pendants seen below are from McGee & Co; you can shop them here! The linear chandelier is one of my favorite pieces, and you can find it here from Visual Comfort. If you need help selecting pendants for your space, check out my blog on Choosing the Right Lighting Fixtures.

Lastly, our flooring is Mohawk Perfect Manner Amulet LVP, which is, unfortunately, no longer available. However, there are so many similar wide plank white oak options out there you should be able to find a close match!

Unpacking the Charm of My Home’s Exterior

Hi friends, grab a cup of coffee and let’s dive into a heart-to-heart about my home’s exterior. It’s a perfect mix of traditional and modern vibes. I’ll let you in on the decision-making process and what we would and wouldn’t do again!

Living that Brick Life

First things first: Brick makes up the entire exterior of our home. Brick is long-lasting and can withstand extreme weather conditions quite impressively. To jazz them up, Benjamin Moore’s White Dove coats them beautifully and adds that much-needed neutral charm. Next, the shales are also painted with White Dove creating the perfect blend of natural textures and rustic charm.

My Home’s Exterior Windows & Doors

Choosing Windsor casement windows was a design decision I’ll never regret. Not only do they look stunning, they let in tons of light and fresh air! The living room also has two rows of Windsor sliding glass doors. Let me tell you, the amount of light is incredible and we can take in all the backyard beauty without even stepping outside.

Front & Back Porch

Next, let’s chat about our porches’ good, bad, and slippery aspects. The front porch ceiling is all tongue and groove cedar. Undeniably, it’s like the cozy sweater of porches: warm and inviting. Our front door is from Sightline Steel Doors and I absolutely love it! The size brings in tons of light to the interior, and additionally, it stands up well to the large lighting fixtures on the front porch.

We opted for tongue and groove pine on the ceiling on the back porch to save a little money. Comparatively, cedar is pricier and can be more sensitive to the weather so it made sense for us!

Lastly, the pillars on the back porch are also cedar, but I gave them a little glow-up with Sherwin Williams ‘Smoke” paint. Because this helped align the overall aesthetic to my tastes by toning down the rustic elements.

My Home’s Exterior Flooring

The porch floor is silver travertine, and despite its gorgeous appearance, I must warn you: It can get slippery, a downside we didn’t anticipate. Silver travertine is a type of gray-colored natural stone and if you’re absolutely in love it, try using it on your interiors!

For more of our interior and exterior design choices, check out my main blog page! I’ve recently shared a blog about our backyard pool design!

Marble Flooring: A Realistic Take

Hello friends! Today, let’s explore the timeless elegance of marble flooring. As someone with firsthand experience, I’ll spill the beans on everything – from different types, best rooms to use it in, pros and cons, and yes, the maintenance required.

Types of Marble Flooring

Bianco Carrara: This is perhaps the most common type of marble. It originates from Italy and is usually greyish-white with soft, feathery veining. It’s perfect for creating a cool and elegant ambiance. This is the main marble we use in our home!

Calacatta Marble: This highly sought-after marble, also from Italy, is often white with bold, dramatic veining that ranges from gold to grey. It is rarer than Carrara, making it more exclusive.

Emperador Marble: Sourced from Spain, Emperador has a rich brown color with fine, light-colored veins. It adds a touch of warmth to any room.

Crema Marfil: This is another popular marble from Spain. It’s a beige or yellowish marble with veining that varies from light to nearly indistinguishable. Its uniform background makes it ideal for large surface areas.

Statuario Marble: This is an exclusive stone with distinct gray and gold veining throughout and a striking, bold pattern. It’s perfect for creating a focal point in any room.

PRO TIP

Remember, the look and feel of each type of marble can vary greatly depending on the specific piece, as marble is a natural stone with considerable diversity. Always look at the actual marble slab you’re considering for your project to make sure it’s what you want.

Marble Maintenance

While marble flooring is stunning, it demands significant upkeep. Firstly, It would help if you regularly seal it to shield it from stains. We do this about once a year. You should clean spills immediately and use a pH-neutral cleaner for routine maintenance. Finally, avoid abrasive materials to preserve that shiny surface we all love.

Marble Flooring

Pros and Cons

Pros of Marble Flooring

  1. Unique Designs: Each marble slab features a unique veining pattern, offering a one-of-a-kind design element.
  2. Durability: Marble flooring stands the test of time, showcasing longevity when properly maintained.
  3. Adds Value: Marble flooring can boost your property’s value due to its high-end appeal.

Cons of Marble Flooring

  1. Requires Regular Maintenance: Marble flooring demands consistent care and cleaning to maintain its shine.
  2. Susceptibility to Scratches: Because it’s so soft, marble can scratch easily, especially under heavy furniture or in high-traffic areas.
  3. Stain Prone: Marble can absorb liquids quickly, leading to potential staining if not sealed regularly.
  4. Can Be Slippery: Marble floors may pose a slipping hazard when wet.

Would I Choose Marble Again?

In retrospect, as much as I adore the look of marble flooring, I’d think twice before opting for it again. Specifically in the bathroom! The high maintenance can be pretty challenging with kids running around and a busy lifestyle. After all, a home should be about comfort, not constant upkeep, right?

So, there you have it, the marble flooring rundown. Remember, your home should reflect you. If you’re okay with a bit of pampering for your floors and the resultant elegance, then marble might just be your match. Otherwise, plenty of other beautiful, low-maintenance flooring options are out there.

A Deep Dive into Our Pool Design

Hello friends! If you’re curious about adding a pool to your home’s outdoor space, you will want to stick around. This blog is about planning, pricing, and designing an outdoor pool area. When creating this space, I sought to balance function with a sprinkle of spa-like luxury, resulting in our 21k-gallon saltwater pool! Right off the bat, let’s go over our pool design specifics! This pool spans from 3ft in the shallow end: perfect for quick dips and cooling off, to a generous 8ft in the deep end: ideal for the kiddos who love cannonballs.

Quality Materials

The material choices around the pool design are pretty important. Initially, we chose silver travertine for the edging. For those unfamiliar, silver travertine is a type of limestone with a unique and textured appearance. Moreover, its durability and unique ability to remain cool under the sun make it an ideal pick for an outdoor space.

Next, we chose concrete coping which refers to the material used to cap the pool’s edge. Notably, this feature plays a crucial role in preserving the pool structure. Also, it provides smooth edges that are comfy to hold onto and walk around on.

Lastly, the standout aspect was the gunite pool bed finished with PebbleTec. Gunite is a high-strength concrete mix sprayed over a framework of steel rods for durability and strength. PebbleTec is an innovative finish with a naturally-textured look and a non-slip surface.

Pool Design Features that Make a Splash

I adore the spa feature with a seating ledge in our pool – it’s undoubtedly one of my favorites. Moreover, the calming sound of the waterfall, brought about by the spillover feature, truly enhances the tranquil atmosphere. Specifically for sun-seekers, the tanning ledge becomes a literal dream come true. Moreover, when the sun becomes a tad too intense, there’s a spot to place an umbrella!

The Perfect Poolside with Tupelo Goods

No pool design is complete without the perfect outdoor furniture, and for me, the choice was Tupelo Goods. This brand creates magically weather-resistant furniture while still being elegant and stunning! I also fell in love with the sleek and modern design! Click on the photos below to shop Tupelo Goods pool furniture!

Pool Transformation Pricing

Overall, the entire pool project came in at about $80,000 – a significant investment but worth every cent for the incredible lifestyle upgrade. Below is the breakdown of the associated costs!

Pool & Related Costs: $55k

Spa & Associated Costs: $16k

Deck & Associated Costs: $12k

I whole heartedly believe our pool design was the best investment we made. We have so much fun out there with the kids and really get to enjoy the warm weather months!
