Hello friends! If you’re curious about adding a pool to your home’s outdoor space, you will want to stick around. This blog is about planning, pricing, and designing an outdoor pool area. When creating this space, I sought to balance function with a sprinkle of spa-like luxury, resulting in our 21k-gallon saltwater pool! Right off the bat, let’s go over our pool design specifics! This pool spans from 3ft in the shallow end: perfect for quick dips and cooling off, to a generous 8ft in the deep end: ideal for the kiddos who love cannonballs.
Quality Materials
The material choices around the pool design are pretty important. Initially, we chose silver travertine for the edging. For those unfamiliar, silver travertine is a type of limestone with a unique and textured appearance. Moreover, its durability and unique ability to remain cool under the sun make it an ideal pick for an outdoor space.
Next, we chose concrete coping which refers to the material used to cap the pool’s edge. Notably, this feature plays a crucial role in preserving the pool structure. Also, it provides smooth edges that are comfy to hold onto and walk around on.
Lastly, the standout aspect was the gunite pool bed finished with PebbleTec. Gunite is a high-strength concrete mix sprayed over a framework of steel rods for durability and strength. PebbleTec is an innovative finish with a naturally-textured look and a non-slip surface.
Pool Design Features that Make a Splash
I adore the spa feature with a seating ledge in our pool – it’s undoubtedly one of my favorites. Moreover, the calming sound of the waterfall, brought about by the spillover feature, truly enhances the tranquil atmosphere. Specifically for sun-seekers, the tanning ledge becomes a literal dream come true. Moreover, when the sun becomes a tad too intense, there’s a spot to place an umbrella!
